DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES – Central Area detectives are looking for a man who broke into Casey’s Irish Pub at about 2:40 a.m. on Monday, March 1.

The suspect picked up a portable table outside the below street level entrance of the bar and restaurant at 613 S. Grand Ave. and smashed the front glass window, according to a crime report.

Once inside, the man, who was captured on the business’ security cameras, removed a wrench from the bar and used it to pry open the ATM machine, according to the report. However, he was unable to open an interior box containing the money, said Det. Michael Brausam.

The man is estimated to be about 6 feet tall and weigh about 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black jacket with white stripes, dark pants and a dark beanie. At the time of the crime, he had a mustache and a beard.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Central Burglary Detectives at (213) 972-1232 during business hours. During off hours, contact the Central Division watch commander at (213) 972-1298.

" My co-worker and I saw this guy sitting on a bus stop on the corner of 5th and Flower yesterday and called the "during business hours" number above just to get a BEEP! After calling the off hours number to report it and being placed on hold, I was able to do it. But this was half an hour later and I am certain that by then he was gone! What good are these numbers if they don't work??? "

" Minor comment -- "ATM machine" is redundant. The "M" in "ATM" already stands for "machine". "
