1111 Sunset - New Projects

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES - Developer Linear City plans to break ground in April on a renovation and residential conversion of the former Metropolitan Water District headquarters building at 1111 Sunset Blvd. Linear City, which created the Arts District's Biscuit Company and Toy Factory lofts, paid $6.8 million last year for the seven-story structure. The project, which will create 92 apartments, is estimated at $15 million. Plans call for taking the horizontal platforms, which jut out a few feet from the façade at every level, and turning them into balconies. Apartments will measure from 800-1,000 square feet. Designed by renowned architect William Pereira, the 1973 building rises on Sunset Boulevard, just north of Downtown and west of Chinatown. At linear-city.com
