DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES – Eating buttery, orange colored goodness in between two pieces of fried bread was a fun and fattening way to spend a sunny afternoon in Downtown as the ninth annual Grilled Cheese Invitational happened at Los Angeles Center Studios on April 23.
Competitors battled it out for the best tasting cheese sandwich while judges, who paid an additional $5 to the $12 entry fee in order to judge, ate samples and voted on their favorite cheesey creations.
Non-judges were able to watch the cooking from the sidelines and if that got to be too much, free cheese sandwich samples were handed out by the entrance and were also available for purchase by various trucks.
The Grilled Cheese Truck won the People's Choice Award for favorite grilled cheese offerings for sale; among them a macaroni and cheese sandwich and a fried chicken, cheddar cheese and waffle melt.
Results for the competition will be posted on grilledcheeseinvitational.com.
