The Mexican American Opportunity Foundation and the Rainbow Children's Center at White Memorial Medical Center received a $1 million grant earlier this month to create a library at the childcare facility. The funds will help purchase 200 books and the creation of literacy programs. The four-year-old nonprofit provides childcare, social services, education and healthcare for low-income families. The 13,500-square-foot building is on the campus of White Memorial Medical Center at 1803 Pennsylvania Ave. in Boyle Heights.
