Chicas Tacos, located across from Whole Foods near Seventh and Olive streets, is a standout spot that slings overstuffed tacos from a cutesy shack of a space.
It’s now celebrating its one-year anniversary in Downtown Los Angeles with a big party on Thursday, June 22 featuring a bevy of tacos, tastings from wineries and microbreweries, live music, a book signing from food writer/taco professor Bill Esparza, and more.
The party is dubbed Baja Market L.A. as a nod to Baja California’s Valle de Guadalupe, the region that inspires chef Eduardo Ruiz’s menu at Chicas.
He’s partnering with chef Omar Valenzuela (Encuentro Guadalupe) on a menu of special tacos, and proceeds from the evening benefit CoTAS Guadalupe, a water-conservancy organization.
Tickets are $15 at chicastacos.com or $20 at the door.
