French restaurants can come off a little stuffy. Zinqué, which opened on Broadway for dinner on May 3, hopes to be more approachable.

Located next to the Ace Hotel, the restaurant serves French cuisine, with choices such as a tuna tartare tartine on toasted Poliane bread and larger plates like grilled branzino and steak frites (pictured here).

Plans call for ultimately adding breakfast and lunch, and also programming live music. The bar, meanwhile, carries a selection of European liquors.

“Zinqué is a place that is personal,” owner Emmanuel Dossetti said in a prepared statement, adding that the aim is to be “a place where it’s easy to meet people while enjoying simple, delicious food and drinks.”

The restaurant echoes the aesthetic of other Zinqué locations in West Hollywood, Newport Beach and Venice, with wooden tables and navy blue tiling and accents.
