DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES - October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month, and several restaurants are spreading the word through drinks.

In Downtown Wolfgang Puck’s WP24 at the Ritz-Carlton is serving the Pink Pomini this month. It’s made with Prosecco, pink grapefruit juice and pomegranates harvested from the hotel’s rooftop garden.

The drink costs $14, which may sound like a lot, but in addition to getting you buzzed, the proceeds will benefit Living Beyond Breast Cancer, a support group for women with the disease.

         At 900 W. Olympic Blvd., (213) 743-8800 or wolfgangpuck.com.

I am an unabashed fan of WP24, and as a breast cancer survivor I am pleased that these restaurants are doing what they can to support efforts to find a cure for breast cancer. However, there is an established link between hormone-positive breast cancer and alcohol consumption. So please attend the event, but perhaps consume something non alcoholic. -Sue Laris, Editor and Publisher, L.A. Downtown News.
