DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES - A grand opening celebration is planned next week for Guild, an American bistro located in a space that briefly housed City Billy, which previously housed Pasta Primavera.
It’s the third try for restaurant owners Joyce Paik and Grace Beck who for a few years were part owners of Pasta Primavera, which had been at the 611 W. Seventh St. spot for more than two decades.
But they closed that place down about two years ago and reopened as City Billy in mid 2011 serving American comfort food. Things were slow, however, and the restaurant only lasted about a year before closing and reemerging now as Guild, a slightly more upscale bistro that soft opened in July.
Karen Lee, the restaurant’s general manager, said the new place has had it’s good days and bad days, since they’ve been a bit low key and not many people know they’re there. But she said after the grand opening event, which could be as early as Monday Oct. 22, they plan on getting the word out with some ads, emails and flyers to.
The new menu includes starters like steak tartare and mussels, flatbreads and main dishes like fried chicken with country maple gravy and petit steak frites. The grand opening will include discounts on food and desserts.
At 611 W. Seventh St., (213) 688-0808 or guildrestaurant.com.
