DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES – Two months after opening at the old Angelique Café spot, The Parish, at 840 S. Spring St. has launched a breakfast menu and two new happy hours starting today.

Breakfast at the “English gastropub-inspired restaurant,” includes things like house made muffins, brioche rolls, biscuits, and grilled escarole over egg; beignets and hearty meals like fried chicken and maple Dijon with pickles.

The two happy hours will take place from 5-6:30 p.m. and from 11 p.m. until 2 a.m. The specials include food items starting at $4, $2-off beers, as well as $2-off the entire wine list and shots of house bourbon and Czech Fernet for $6.

Chef Casey Lane, who built a following for his farm-driven menu at The Tasting Kitchen in Venice, opened The Parish in late July.

         At 840 S. Spring St., (213) 225-2400 or theparishla.com.

I'm glad to see that The Parish is open! I had hoped they'd be open for lunch, though. When it was Angelique's, I enjoyed sitting outside or on the balcony for lunch and would often take clients there. So, why would they be open for breakfast and not lunch? It looks like they really expanded the place and I hope they expand the menu to include some "regular" food. A lot of people aren't into things like fried frog legs or pigs feet. [unsure]
