DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES - The food options are about to grow in the Arts District with a new Umami Burger coming to the neighborhood.

Restaurant officials announced today plans to open a 60-seat restaurant at 738 E. Third St., this summer in a spot that used to house a Korean restaurant called District BBQ.

“Downtown Los Angeles has been a great neighborhood for us,” said Adam Fleischman, founder and CEO of Umami Restaurant Group, in a statement.  “The arts district has a great community of Umami Burger fans.”

According to officials with the small but rapidly growing chain, the Arts District location will serve the same menu items as other Umami Burgers as well as an “Arts District inspired burger,” and will have an industrial feel reminiscent of the neighborhood.

Fleischman’s other Downtown restaurant is the 7,000-square-foot Umamicatessen on Broadway, which opened in March 2012.

Founded in 2009 the chain has 15 locations in California and Florida with more planned in Oakland, New York, Burbank and Irvine within the next year.
